Which companions do you play with the least?
Because I EEKeeper my custom builds onto them, I pretty much never touch the BG1 NPCs that don't appear in BG2. Which means in BG1 I'm pretty much going with some combination of Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Viconia, Edwin. I will occasionally go for Alora because she's my favourite of the 1 and dones, and back in the day there was a decent BG2 mod to bring her in. It's supposedly still a thing, but I haven't used it for ages.

Mod Item Review: Ruad Part 1
So... Items too? Yes, I'm taking a break from kits and it's time to look at gear! I'm going to start with Ruad R'hofessa, which you can get at this github, is a smith/crafter who you can visit to upgrade various items in the game. He will appear north of where you escaped Irenicus' dungeon or be sent to your pocket plane in ToB. The list is vast. Let's get started.
What are some alternatives?
Region_of_Terror - The mod is based on the adventures of Drizzt Do'Urden. puts in Drizzt and his companions as playable NPC's and you'll be able to play with him through the old and new quests. The mod contains several new big quests and adds in four new cities/villages/towns.
SwordCoastStratagems - Sword Coast Stratagems (SCS) adds over 130 optional components to Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Baldur's Gate Trilogy, mostly focused around improving monster AI and encounter difficulties, but also including cosmetic and ease-of-use components, tweaks to abilities or spells.
Adrian-NPC - A mod for Baldur's Gate II that introduces Adrian Sianodel, a renegade Zhentarim sorcerer with a taste for decadence, as a joinable NPC.
AzengaardEE - A time traveller takes the party back to an epic battle and foreshadows a coming one
