There's software called Al Dente that you can use to set a hard limit on your battery charge at all times. It's what I use in my setup where I use an M1 MBP hooked up to a 4K display with power delivery, so it's basically a Mac Mini when I'm at home. There's a workaround that I have not tested, but given the aforementioned software solutions I consider the hassle unnecessary.

M1 MacBook Air battery draining really fast
2 projects | reddit.com/r/mac | 31 Oct 2021
For me to reduce aging, I installed an app called Al Dente, and set it's max charge to 80%, because most of the time, my MacBook is plugged in. When I know I won't have a charger, then I charge to 100%.
Is it worth it to replace the battery?
1 project | reddit.com/r/macbook | 1 Nov 2021
Use a tool to limit the max charge to 80% and don't let it drop below 20%. It will be fine for many more years.
You can keep your Macbook Pro 16inch M1 juiced up with a charger the size of the 5 watts iPhone charger.

An alternative to AlDente is Charge Limiter.

Although my laptop wasn't used much, I never left it plugged in for long time and occasionally discharged it. I also use a charge limiter and keep it at 48% for when it has to be plugged in at a desk.

I don't see it being a problem. I too use something similar to u/TerminatorXPS15 charge limiter to keep my device consistantly in around 80% state. I don't use my macbook in portable mode so battery charge cycle is still at 2. = )

Charge Limiter does the same: https://github.com/godly-devotion/charge-limiter
Sort of disappointed. At just 252 charging cycles it seems to become worse and worse every day. (Roughly 2 years old)

I have 282 cycles on my 2018 MBP and got a similar warning a few months ago. The laptop spends most of its time plugged in so I downloaded Charge Limiter and limited the charge to 60%. That seems to have removed the battery warning for me, and hopefully when I do need full charge again the battery degradation will have slowed down. You can also download coconutBattery and see how much capacity is actually remaining, mine was as low as 72%. I used to keep the battery between say 40% and 70% religiously on my older devices but I have slacked off recently and am now paying the price
