Unplug Your Laptop Now, or It Will Stay Plugged in Forever
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/406957/can-i-tell-...
Looks like there's a decent CLI tool for it, but being a Mac guy I'm of course going for the slick GUI app https://apphousekitchen.com. The developer came up with a really clever incentive for free-app users to upgrade to the Pro version: make the icons for the free version unbelievably ugly. (The design of the app itself is excellent)

M3 CPU cores have become more versatile
"Special care" on OS X is to use Al Dente.app, which limits the charge at 80% so as to not damage the battery.

Who says keeping your MacBook plugged in all the time is going to destroy the battery?
I use an app called AlDente that allows you to cap your battery's charge https://apphousekitchen.com/

Best practices for keeping Mac battery healthy?
download AlDente and your battery will thank you. If you have it plugged in most of the time limit the charge to 80% and AlDente will stop charging beyond that.

Constant Plugged in?
Just a shame keeping the battery at 100% will degrade its health over time. I would love an option to keep it at 50% most of the time, just like my MacBook with AlDente.
- is there any Thunderbolt hub that I can turn off charging while it's connected to the Macbook?

Charging a lithium battery to 80% only?
It's not possible to set a hard limit in macOS without third party utility like AlDente [1].
I was referring to the built-in "Optimised battery charging" feature. When this is active and has decided it will cap charging at 80%, you get a "charge to full now" option in the battery menu.

Got a 14" M1 Max with 64Gb + 2TB + 3yrs Applecare+ for $2650 after tax. Do I need this battery app?
I was told to get this app to help maximize battery life as it keep it within 30-80% charge instead of 100%. Would this app help prolong the battery life?

- Is there a way to make the MacBook stop charging for example at 80% and start charging again at 20%?

Some early real world battery results for the Pixel 7 Pro
With my MacBook and Dell Laptop, I have been able to use a power manager (in the case of the Dell) or scripts (in the case of the MacBook) to limit the charge level to 80%. It is my undertstanding that keeping a Li-Ion battery at 100% constantly is Not A Good Thing - which laptops plugged in over the course of a working day would almost certainly produce. This effect I think is more significant than charging to 100% and then switching to battery power immediately (to reduce the time spent at 100% to an absolute minimum) - which is what Apple offer with their iPhone optimised charging. That they do this does confirm that not doing something to limit the time spent at 100% is detrimental.
- This made me happy, saving a crap ton of battery cycles this way, and I can run whatever I want w/o worry.

clean new workstation, added the plant for the picture tbh
I know it obvious but get a bigger tray ! I found this that would fit , depending on the processor you have heat accumulating might be an issue with this tray... more over if you're gonna keep your laptop connected to power I recommend using this script to limit charge to 60%

Is it worth it to replace the battery?
Use a tool to limit the max charge to 80% and don't let it drop below 20%. It will be fine for many more years.

You can keep your Macbook Pro 16inch M1 juiced up with a charger the size of the 5 watts iPhone charger.
An alternative to AlDente is Charge Limiter.

Experience after 2 battery replacements for 15 MBP
Although my laptop wasn't used much, I never left it plugged in for long time and occasionally discharged it. I also use a charge limiter and keep it at 48% for when it has to be plugged in at a desk.
