Haxe ladies and gentlemen
Libraries like as3hx and ax3 (where I found this post's code) automate the long process of converting AS3 code to Haxe + inserting compatibility layers where they're needed. And finally, I use OpenFL + Lime to help bridge the gap between Flash APIs and JS.
