Is the only way to achieve non-custodial lightning wallet, letting user connect to his own lnd?
That comment is incorrect too from a few angles. Both Breez and Phoenix's code is entirely verifiable on their GitHubs (Pheonix Breez). If you're truly concerned about them changing the code in an update you can verify and build the app yourself locally and install it on your phone.

I just received 4 sats through lightning from a faucet into my new Muun wallet, then sent 1 sat to another lightning address - all without any on-chain transactions. How does that work?
you can't directly import Muun wallet to Electrum, but you can use Muun Recovery tool https://github.com/muun/recovery and send your bitcoin to your new address in Electrum.

Stealing Sats from the Lightning Network Custodial Services
They have a FOSS recovery utility that lets you grab the money from those multisig addresses in case you "lost" your phone/app. It scans the chain using the public Electrum servers and builds a transaction from those addresses to whatever address you provide. So instead of the unspent amount you get the entire amount. It's not possible to find those on-chain addresses in the app so the whole scheme is quite obscure. And since this issue is fundamental because the approach they chose it can't be fixed. Either you can't recover your money at all (and it contradicts their security model) or you recover more than you should (and it's not your fault of course).
