Yeah theres a captcha but you can use 2captcha.com or something similar, it has a python api wrapper so it should be that difficult, it obviously costs money.

Of course it's possible, but it's not trivial. Solvers exist but those I found cost money e.g. https://2captcha.com/ which funnily is "human powered" (lol). If I wanted to bot r/place I wouldn't bother with that, just spend an hour creating many accounts manually and feed those into the script.
